The website of the police and its now-disbanded unit SARS has seemingly been hacked by a popular hacker that goes by the name Anonymous. It claims to have accessed the police and SARS database and released information on the officers.
About 371 names and addresses it got from hacking these websites are now circling social media.
The End SARS protest continues after over a week. So far, the government is currently dealing with demands from the protesters – to compensate families of victims, prosecute rogue police officers and for the Inspector general to resign.
Meanwhile, Lagos state is taking action by setting up N200 million fund for victims of police brutality.

Hacking
In very basic terms, Hacking means breaking the security walls, defence and password of a website. Even though the activities Anonymous is secret, what it can do a lot of public damage from gaining access to the website of government operative like SARS.
Hacking can happen in a number of ways – one of the most popular is the use of malicious links. More so, any website can be hacked and is the list released by Anonymous genuine and was SARS website hacked? There is proof or confirmation from the unit or the police. The hacked website address is also unknown.
Anonymous, an activist group, engage in cyberattacks particularly on government and corporations around the world. The group supports the ongoing #EndSARS protests currently on in Nigeria.
The group calls the hacking a “peaceful warning”.
