WHO Warns About The Effects Of Alcohol During Coronavirus Lockdown

People appear to be taking comfort in alcohol during the lockdown believing that consuming high-strength alcohol can kill the COVID-19 virus. The WHO said that it is misinformation and that alcohol does not kill coronavirus.

There are over two million coronavirus infections now, and nearly 140,000 deaths. The WHO is promptly sending out a warning against the intake of alcohol.

The press release from WHO is directed to the European region and it says alcohol is consumed in excessive quantities in the region. This tends to leave too many people, victims. In the statement, it encourages governments to enforce measures which limit alcohol consumption.

Alcohol does almost no good to the health, in general. Due to the lockdown, an alcohol-use disorder could make a certain group of people particularly vulnerable. Therefore WHO is suggesting restriction during the lockdown.

The immune systems can be compromised and more vulnerable to the adverse health effects of COVID-19 from alcohol intake, according to WHO. Alcohol contains a substance that is associated with mental disorders, more so, it can make a person susceptible to COVID-19.
