YouTube Takes Down NTA Live Stream, Blocked By Premier League For Copyright

Heading to YouTube, video sharing platform, to recap on the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, 9 PM live-streamed news of Thursday will be disappointing.

On the live stream video is a text that says “Video unavailable – This video contains content from FA Premier League and XMD1TV, one or more of whom have blocked it on copyright grounds”. For hours after the live stream, many viewers are still unable to access the NTA YouTube channel.

Copyright is a big subject both for Google and YouTube as they expect all content to be original. More so, it expects users to share only royalty-free images and videos.

There are a number of things that leads to YouTube taking down videos on a channel. Google has smart technologies that detect plagiarized content and mostly to know if the content is copyrighted.

NTA have apparently used content or soundtrack from FA Premier League and XMD1TV without permission. Without a proper license or Copywrite, YouTube blocks a channel.

It is a single live stream and would probably be restored by Friday morning since the NTA YouTube channel is still active.
