Kaliisa grew up with the dreams of establishing a means for women in rural areas of Uganda to access key screening. In 2017 she began her mobile cancer screening company. But having almost no money in the beginning, made that idea less practicable. With no support for efforts, Kaliisa hit the rock many times.

Tony Elumelu Foundation was among the first circuits which she tapped into to make a breakthrough in her plans. TEF entrepreneur program accepted her when she applied and she received capital to transform her then mobile clinic into a much bigger one today.

Chil is now a fully technology-enabled business which offers online digital services powered by Artificial intelligence. Gladly, as she had hoped, Kaliisa now renders her service to over 150 000 women globally. Chil A.I has 21 employees, 25 countries and makes at least $300 000 dollars annual.

In 2018, Kaliisa received recognition from Tedeka young entrepreneur award, AWIEF Social Impact award and Ruforum young entrepreneur award. She also got support from Google and other organisations including GIZ, CCHub, UNDP. Maathai Impact Award also gave her an Honourable Mention in 2019.

Kaliisa might find it challenging to take her business beyond Africa. But she seems determined and hopes to take her services to Asia and Latin America.

Nabuuma Shamim Kaliisa was recently in Johannesburg for the FORBES AFRICA 30 Under 30 photoshoot.
