SPW Nigeria: Unskilled Workers To Earn N20, 000 Monthly From The Special Public Works

Beginning from January 5 – April 4, 2021 beneficiaries from 774 local government areas in Nigeria will receive 20, 000 each under the general Special Public Works Programme, SPW.

What is the “Special Public Works Programme” and who can participate?

As an act of the Pilot Special Public Works Programme which was utilized in 2020. The program is handled and implemented by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) the SPWP.

To begin the year, the Special Public Works Programme, SPWP will engage 774,000 unemployed Nigerians for the next three months.

To complement the above number, 1000 Nigerians from each of the 774 local government areas of Nigeria will get jobs under the programme. This is in hopes that it will help reduce financial setbacks of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jobs available on the SPW Nigeria

  • Drainage digging and clearance
  • Irrigation canals clearance
  • Rural feeder road maintenance
  • Traffic control
  • Street cleaning
  • Cleaning of public infrastructure like Health Centres, Schools

Unskilled workers will receive N20,000 monthly for the duration of the program in 2021, and tools will also be provided.

To apply for Special Public Works jobs

  • Visit the official website of the special public works at https://specialpublicworks.gov.ng/site/.
  • On the homepage is a map of Nigeria, click on your state to access the contact details (names and phone numbers) of the committee in charge.
  • Choose your local government area to see the designated payment bank for application and verification.

Many states Kaduna, Oyo and Delta, Ondo, Cross River have now began the process.
