Aside from hosting virtual financial literacy workshops, the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE has found other ways to provide information about the capital market. The NSE made an illustration of stock trading using a comic book it calls “StockTown” and editions 1 & 2 are out.
For financial literacy purposes, “StockTown” makes a Ponzi scheme which is named “NNN Chrome” a framework. A small part of “StockTown” sort of feels a little too dramatic for financial education, but the message is clear.
As Mr James noted in edition two “you’d be surprised how little people know about stock”. The NSE StockTown comic book “StockTown” is accessible here
How NSE StockTown Explains Capital Market Investment
Johnson’s family losses money to a pyramid scheme. Then Mora decides its time for her to listen to her friend Pilau and to try to help her family where necessary. ‘StockTown’ then simplifies capital investment in the following ways:
How to register for stock by going through stock brokers
How to get financial advice and the need for it
The benefits of having a portfolio with different stocks and securities
Both editions of ‘StockTown’ concludes with an FAQ on the capital market.
