Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, Emir of Daura has been taken into the ICU of the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina State.
The emir’s condition is critical due to the COVID-19 infection he contracted from Dr Aminu Yakubu. He was the index case of Katsina State but also the personal physician to the Emir.
Dr Aminu Yakubu who is now dead from COVID-19 had contact with Emir Farouk and his wife Hajiya Binta Umar. Two weeks later, Hajiya Binta Umar died, and news reports say that it was unrelated to the virus.
As was earlier suggested to the Emir of Daura who refused, every other member of his palace is going into self-isolation. There has also been a confirmation that some members of the palace have tested positive and the palace is also now shutting down.
