NCDC Attacked Over Coronavirus Test Centres in Kano, Lagos

Kano Coronavirus Test Centres

Kano State residents are beginning to feel the weight of the coronavirus after the mysterious death news. While the cause of the deaths is being investigated, they are hoping to eliminate some factors and by getting coronavirus tests. However, it appears that the lack of sample collection and coronavirus test centres in Kano State makes it discouraging for them.

They are accusing the NCDC of failing Kano state, in comparison to Lagos State. This is currently being debated on social media.

Both Lagos and Kano, are respectively the first and second most populated cities in Nigeria. They are claiming that Lagos is getting more attention than Kano State given that their populations are only different by four million.

With 17.5 million people, Lagos has three coronavirus test centres and Kano has one with 13.5 million people.

Sample collection centres in Lagos are at least 20 in number. NCDC reports show that Lagos State has 504 confirmed COVID-19 cases and Kano State 73.

While the situation is arguable, most people do not know that Lagos State government set up these centres earlier. Their quick response seems to be paying off as some users noted on Twitter.
