CBN Not Hacked – There was no hack or data breach

CBN Not Hacked
The Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) has released a statement to clarify that its website was not hacked by the Anonymous hacker as against the rumours that spread earlier.

The Ag. Director, corporate communications, of the CBN, Osita Nwasinobi signed the statement which reads: “Contrary to claims in the social media alleging that the websites of the Central Bank of Nigeria have been hacked by malicious persons, we wish to state categorically that our website is secure”.

The CBN warns that such news is aimed at undermining them and therefore the online community should avoid fake new.

Hacking a website like that of CBN could wreak a lot of havoc, both for the government and the people. Having made claims that it breached some government websites in Nigeria, the Anonymous might want to do so to inflict distress being a fan of the #End SARS protest.

There was a temporary glitch on the CBN website about a day ago. This sparked the speculation and sent panic around in Nigeria.

However, the statement which the CBN released further assures the general public that the website is “adequately protected”. It made sure to refer to CBN stakeholders on the same line as well.

No hack happened on the CBN website and “there is no cause for alarm” the statement concludes.
