Canada announces invitation of 27,332 express entry candidates for permanent residence

Canada Express Entry Invitation

The government in Canada has announced the invitation of 27,332 candidates who want to apply for its permanent residency through its management system, Express Entry.

The aforementioned invitation was for the latest draw by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in February 2021.

The newsletter published by CIC News stated that the number is the highest ever invited in a single IRCC draw.

More so, candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score as low as 75, got the invitation. It is the lowest since its launch in 2015.

According to the newsletter, an estimated 90 per cent of CEC candidates in the recent draw are currently in Canada. Hence, completing their permanent residence process would be easier than it will be for candidates currently overseas.

In a comprehensive evaluation, it appears that almost every Express Entry candidate that met the eligibility criteria of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program (which is mostly for candidates who have studied and/or worked in Canada and want to transition to permanent residence) made the invitation list.

Express Entry is a competitive system and prior to COVID-19, only invite candidates with the highest CRS scores of around 470 would get an invite from the IRCC.

Evidently, the Canadian government is keen on achieving its Immigration Levels Plan target of 401,000 new immigrants in 2021 and beyond.

IRCC draws holds every other week. A nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program can provide a candidate 600 CRS points. This also guarantees an invitation in an Express Entry draw for such a candidate.
