Why Every Small Product in Nigeria Should Offer Warranty

Product Warranty in Nigeria

Most times you get a warranty for buying a product in Nigeria most especially electronics and cell phones. For the manufacturers, they are committing to take responsibility for any kind of damage within a specified time.

You either receive a promise of maintenance, repair, replacement or refund if a product is something goes wrong. All warranties are different and so is the time frame but they have these things in common, assurance, sophistication and authenticity. They are the same reason every product should come with a warranty in Nigeria.

Assurance: Warranties are not lawful, but to win consumers trust, companies offer warranties. If a company begins to lose customers from making products that are returned and refunded, they will begin to think about making it better.

Sophistication: The effort to stop substandard products in Nigeria can be achieved by getting manufacturers to provide a warranty. If manufacturers can not provide a warranty, it means they are not willing to back the produce.

Authenticity: If a company wants to be reliable, they will make good products and draw up a reasonable warranty as proof of authenticity. A reasonable warranty should not place consumers in impossible situations like asking for products container.

Warranty in Nigeria can work in many ways

Warranties are sometimes built into the price of a product and this might make it more expensive to purchase. But why make a product that will go bad in a short time instead of making a good one and attaching a warranty? A product warranty can work better in Nigeria in many ways:

  • If consumers understand that they have the right to read the written warranty of a product before purchasing.
  • Request for a warranty for any product above 10 000 Naira ($30).
  • Consumers have to find more time to read through the warranty. If the product eventually develops a problem, then they know what they are entitled to and in what time frame.
  • Understand that the claim for a refund, repair or replacement is invalid if product warranty and purchase receipt provided at the time of purchase is missing.
  • Warranties sometimes exclude certain parts of a product and consumers should know which ones are.

Both consumers and companies can breach a warranty which is not uncommon. Consumers always have the right to claim damages. However, the manufacturer can choose to treat the agreement as invalid if damages resulted from careless handling.
