FG gives details of autogas engine conversion under the NGEP
The autogas action was flagged off by the Federal Government last week under the National Gas Expansion Programme, NGEP, in alignment with its cheaper and cleaner energy sources for Nigerians.
The scheme would require motorists to get engine or engines as the case may be that supports autogas. Since the programme also targets household domestication of autogas especially in running generators, a conversion could be necessary too.

The Technical Adviser on Gas Business and Policy Implementation to Timipre Sylva, Justice Derefaka had analysed some details of the car engine conversion from petrol/diesel to autogas during an interview with Channels TV.
Conversions according to him is almost a seven-hour task and car cylinder sizes are determinant factors in price tag.
Having said that motorists will have to pay N250, 000 earlier, Dafreke, on Friday, restated that the FG is offering the conversion for free.

The NNPC is making it easy for motorists to shift from petrol to autogas by providing a conversion service. Conversion services are beginning with existing autogas service stations in the country.
According to Dafreke, one million vehicles will be converted without charges by the end of 2021. More so, the decision to convert car engines to CNG or LNG still lies with the car owners.
