On May 29, 2019, the swearing-in of President Buhari took place, for the second term making today the anniversary of his five years in office.
This year is also his fifth-year of upholding security, economic, social and political engagements inclined to the presidency.
Buhari is the sitting president in Nigeria for a while, a torture for many people from his swearing-in.
The presidency isn’t deluded when it says outrightly that Nigeria has been touched and revamped in many ways. There are millions endorsing the presidency, but there are a million more on the reverse.
Does President Buhari Deserve Credit on this Anniversary?
A fact check by Femi Adesina says that people “resent that President Buhari will be recorded in history as the man who turned Nigeria right side up.” More so, every claim that the country is worse than before five years ago is malicious as he sings praises to the president. It doesn’t sting to go through his fact check about President Buhari.
The construction of the second Niger bridge under this presidency is credible as other administrations promised the same and failed. Julius Berger is also constructing the Owerri Interchange, a 1.6 kilometres bridge and 10.3 kilometres highway that will connect to the second Niger bridge.
Food security in Nigeria is now more likely under this administration with every effort from the presidency on agriculture. The resolution against and the banning of certain imports like rice, beans, maize, millet became a reality in this administration.
Adesina claims that it is due to the investment which the president made in agriculture in 2015 that the country is able to survive the COVID-19 food crisis. More so, the establishment of a social security register and its growth is a first. The government fighting corruption and insecurity have also not been more successful.
The Lagos to Ibadan railway lines as well as the Abuja to Kaduna ones are almost all operational now. Others transport projects under the federal government including Ibadan to Kano railways, Lagos/Ibadan, Abuja/Kano expressways are under work.
