Kano Goes Into Total Lockdown With President Buhari’s Orders

While the rest of Nigeria battles the coronavirus lockdown, several deaths which may or may not be related to COVID-19 are being reported in Kano state. During a speech today, President Buhari said that he is deeply concerned with the situation in Kano.

The president eased the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun state and the FCT. He presented new measures for work, school and other activities to resume including a curfew.

However, he also said that “these reversed guidelines will not apply to kano state”. The president directed a total lockdown effective immediately for a period of two weeks in Kano state.

He said that the FG will deploy all necessary human, material and technical resources to support the state in controlling and containing COVID-19 and prevent further spread to neighbouring states. New states that are recording new cases will also receive support from the FG.
