CBN Fire Was Caused by a Failed Air Conditioner System

The Central Bank of Nigeria Jos, Plateau Branch experienced a minor fire outbreak today. The incident was directly announced on the CBN twitter account and states that the fire is already put out.

The staff present in the building were alerted of the fire at 9.15 a.m. Evacuation from the building to the muster point was quick. The fire also did not destroy any bank records as Central Bank of Nigeria’s statement on the fire shows.

Before the arrival of the firemen, the fire was traced and put out by the security unit. An air conditioner system which failed was the cause of the fire at the CBN Jos branch.

About six year ago, one CBN old buildings in Lagos also went up in flames. In 2018, the CBN headquaters in the FCT also recorded another fire incident.
