The operations of American tech company Andela in Africa is to empower and profile software engineers for companies around the world. Andela is engaging skilled men and women on the continent with technical training that prepares them for the global market beginning with an application process.

Andela, like most tech companies, is succeeding in cutting shortages while being able to boast of quality software developers.

Application and Test at Andela

Andela breaks its application process into four parts; application and aptitude test, an individual progression work, interviews and a two-week Bootcamp. An applicant must pass all stages of the application to get admission in Andela.

Technical assessment includes a test of basic programming knowledge and skills as well as an English proficiency test.




Andela application is not open to all countries and application take place online. It is different for all nationalities. Applying from Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya and Ghana all involve different processes. Opening dates also vary for every country and they announce every opening date.

About Andela Training

They offer remote training which means training could take place online. People under 18 can’t apply at Andela and only applications from final year students in higher institutions are accepted. The program is a full time four years exercise and runs for six hours daily. Andela operates with its own calendar which it has infused with robust software engineer subjects.

Some of the programming languages that Andela covers in the four years program includes; PHP / Laravel, MEAN Stack, & Mobile Development, Ruby / Ruby on Rails and Python / Django.
