Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) – Investors Make Weekly Gain Of N747 Billion

Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market capitalisation rose by N747 billion to N15 trillion last week, however, it stalled and closed at N14.852 trillion on Friday. This knocks out the previous week’s N14.105 trillion in the NSE market giving investors a gain of 5.30 per cent.

A total of 3.140 billion shares valued at N35.372 billion were traded by investors in 35,099 deals during the week. Going back a week ago, all data was almost short by half with a total of 1.532 billion shares valued at N16.901 billion, in 17,882 deals.

With 2.325 billion shares worth N25.816 billion, dealt in 21,306 transactions, the financial sector led on trade volume. The sector makes up 74.05 per cent of the total equity turnover volume and 72.99 per cent of the value.

The oil and gas sector followed closely with 1,977 trades, 200.567 million shares priced at N1.012 billion.

The third leading sector is the industrial goods with trade deals, 149.200 million shares priced at N3.631 billion.

Zenith Bank Plc, FBN Holdings Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc were the top three traded equities. A combination of all three justifies the N15.724 billion value of 1.236 billion shares, traded in 9,774 deals. They make up 39.36 per cent of the total equity turnover volume and 44.45 per cent of the value.
