Seven Nigerians Make Africa’s Business Heroes 50 Finalist

With over 22 000 applicants of the 2020 Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) prize competition, 50 entrepreneurs which include seven Nigerians made it through the stage one selection process.

Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) is a nonprofit program and a trailblazer in entrepreneurship projects in Africa. The Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative (ANPI) owned by Alibaba CEO Jack Ma, are the organiser os the competition.

The competition will end with a grand finale stage where 10 entrepreneurs, further selected from the 50 will compete in later this year.

The initiative wants to provide African entrepreneurs with the chance to demonstrate their talent and business ideas. Nationality, industry, age or gender notwithstanding. That aim is achieved in the diversity and inclusivity of the finalist slate. The 2020 top 50 finalists include seven Nigerian entrepreneurs.

The other countries represented on the top 50 finalist slate are from Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zimbabwe. Eighteen sectors are also represented on the slate including agriculture, AI, Big Data, business services, construction, education, engineering, e-commerce, fashion, financial services, healthcare, ICT, logistics, manufacturing, management services, retail, renewable energy, and transportation.
