The system allows the ministry to select low-class earners in urban regions of the country using scientifically validated methods. It deploys satellite remote sensing technology, machine learning algorithm and big data analysis for the selection process.
The method will further enhance financial inclusion especially for people who were excluded in the National Social Register (NSR) according to the Vice President.
The ministry who made this known on their Twitter account is in charge of social protection systems for the improvement and general welfare of the people. They have other support channels to reach out to the poorer masses especially in the North of Nigeria.
The Rapid Response Register was a design of Vice President Prof. Osinbajo, who flagged off the cash transfer of N5,000 on Tuesday.
At least 300,000 beneficiaries received cash instantly after the launch.
Low-income earners in urban areas including self-employed and wage employed will receive the allowance of N5, 000montly for six months.
