The INEC resumed it recess on Sunday morning and at the end of the collation, it announced Governor Rotimi Akeredolu as the winner of the Ondo governorship election 2020. Akeredolu had led 70% of the vote from the first 12 LGA announced on Saturday around midnight.
He polled 178,944 votes beating his strongest competitors Mr Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party and Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP with over 35,000 votes in the first set of collations.
Mr Jegede and Mr Ajayi came behind him with 141,083 and 32,060 votes respectively.
Winner of the Ondo Election is Akeredolu
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had said he is confident in securing a new four-year term. The incumbent governor is remaining his position for a second term. The mandatory requirements on which Akeredolu won the election are:
A win a minimum of 12 LGAs
You must have the highest votes cast
You must have a spread of two third across all LGAs and two third of 18 LGAs is 12

Akeredolu like his other companions won in their polling unit. He got 413 votes at Isokun, Ijebu-Owo, his polling unit 6, ward 5. Other states where Akeredolu was the preferred candidate are:

Only 1.4 million as against the 1.8 million registered voters in the state. Up to 300 000 did not collect their PVCs.
