The United Arab Emirate, UAE, who had initially suspended its visa service in Nigeria is recalling the decision. Hadi Sirika, Nigeria’s aviation minister shared the news of the recall but said that the visa issuance is conditional.
Nigeria had barred the Emirates from operating on its airspace due to the visa issuance suspension. It lifted the ban after it received a letter from the UAE saying that it has agreed to resume visa service to Nigerians.

The minister said Emirates flights resumption would depend on the resumption of visa service to Nigerians.
The UAE acknowledges the suspension of visa issuance. However, it admits that the closure of airspace which emanated from the pandemic lockdowns limited its operations to Nigeria.
Travellers who intend to acquire a visa to the UAE are to have a negative PCR test result in addition to the usual requirements for visa application. These include – return ticket, hotel booking, health insurance and others.
UAE visa issuance in Nigeria begins on October 8, 2020, according to the minister.

Some other airlines – most Europeans – are still barred from operating in Nigeria’s airspace as the government ordered. This is part of its principles of reciprocity which also includes new visa fees and policy for all countries beginning October 1.
