The Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, is proposing that the End SARS protesters should take a step further and open a dialogue with the authorities. It says it is worried about the negative impacts of the End SARS protest in Nigeria.

According to LCCI president Toki Mabogunji, Nigeria’s economy has suffered a loss of about N700 billion since the protest began 12 days ago. Mabogunji however, acknowledges that the protest has achieved some significant results but it is also time to take it to the next level.

In her statement, she noted that the level of engagement by Nigerians is appreciated. More so, it aligns with the democratic norms for good governance.

Miscreants’ attacked End SARS protesters in APO village in Abuja burning several cars and killing protesters. With the current state of the protest, no one knows how to find the hoodlums to bring them to justice.

However, there is a need to reduce destructions which have come at a great cost to the economy and people.

End SARS protest news in Nigeria today

The End SARS protesters are sitting on protests grounds daily waiting for the government to respond to their demands. The government, however, are either too busy to respond to the protesters, or they are ignoring them.

Nigeria has issues of failed promises from the government which is why the protesters are swearing to stay put until something begins to happen.

So far, the SARS unit has been disbanded. But other demands include the resignation of the Inspector General.

The End SARS protest is no longer about disbanding the SARS unit and the horror they unleashed, as that demand is already met. The protest is and it is about bad governance in Nigeria.
