While at the ongoing 2020 World Economic Forum in Davos, Donald Trump told journalists his intentions to extend the travel ban. Trump did not originally mention any countries. However, reporters suggest that Nigeria is one of the most obvious ones on Trump’s updated travel ban list.
The original ban which was installed about three years ago targeted mostly the Muslim world. It has contributed to the much-enjoyed safety in the US today according to White House spokesman, Hogan Gidley.
North Korea, Venezuela, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, and Syria are on the first list. Even with a lot of adjustments after the ban, citizens of these countries will not be able to get visas to the US. This might be the case for citizens of Nigeria when Trump finally announces the expanded travel ban list. According to Politico, who was the first to report on the new ban list, the expansion could also include Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Sudan, Myanmar, and Tanzania.
