An angry mob in the Ondo State of Nigeria lit up Sotitobire Miracle Church earlier today after it was reported that the corpse of a one-year-old boy was found on the property. The deceased kid went missing a week ago during a service that his mother attended with him.
When the mother talked to the police she mentioned that there was something dubious about the disappearance of her child. She also said that the church wasn’t willing to help with the investigation.
Alfa Babatunde, the founder of Sotitobire Miracle church, is currently in police custody. However, residents continue to clamor for his imprisonment in a protest that has already claimed lives.
So-called miracle churches have long been a business in Nigeria. The business is detested by many who claim that these churches practice fetishes and cultism in addition to running the churches for profit. Some students at the University of Nsukka recently organized a program to help tackle these practices.
