CACOVID employment program will train four million youths in Nigeria in five years

The Coalition Against COVID-19, CACOVID is planning a N150 billion employment program to provide jobs to four million youths.

This is in response to a recent significant event – End SARS protest. CACOVID aims to provide technical and vocational training in the next 5 years through the program. Training will cover different crafts and vocations – plumbing, carpentry, and masonry.

Training centres will be set across the country to make the program accessible Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele who is also the Co-Chair CACOVID said.

About N25 billion under the program will go to supporting entrepreneurs in the acquisition of relevant tools for business enterprises.

Akiko Dangote, (president Dangote Industries), Tony Elemelu (UBA Chairman) and Herbert Wigwe (Managing Director, CEO Access Bank Plc) were also at the press briefing.

The idea to set up a program to empower youths aligns with its intentions to support the effort to the federal government in the reduction of unemployment.

CACOVID briefed the press in Lagos on Wednesday, November 25 discussing its actions where Mr Godwin Emefiele announced this.

In the words of Emefiele, “We believe this initiative can lead to the creation of over four million jobs over the next five years”.

The CACOVID employment program will also present them, participants, with certificates upon completion of the program. They will also get access to loans to support their enterprises.
