ASUU, FG Meeting Over Strike Ended With New Proposal

ASUU Strike

The meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU over the strike concluded with a new proposal in place. After hours of discussions, both parties did not immediately work out a solution.

They did, however, reach an agreement regarding the IPPIS Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS). ASUU is expected to get back to the government on this new proposal.

Mr Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU President addressed newsmen in Abuja after the meeting. He said that nothing is completely agreed upon yet until they have presented the new government proposals to members of the union.

National Executive Council will unite thoughts on how to go about the proposal. While the strike continues, ASUU has agreed to the return to the government before the weekend is over.

Solutions for the issues of around the IPPIS were sought at the meeting as well as solutions for the rehabilitation of public universities. Academic allowances of university lecturers were also fully tackled. Chris Ngige was present with a number of other government ministers for the meeting.
