Merchants in Africa are getting an added benefit from a new partnership between PayPal and Flutterwave. They will be able to receive payments directly from PayPal users anywhere in the world as the deal states.
Before now, merchants on Flutterwave accept payments through bank transfers, mobile money, USSD, or generating a link. Now, they get to include PayPal in the options.
Flutterwave merchant’s checkout interface will now display an option “Pay with PayPal” for its users in the U.S and other countries. The function is currently on Flutterwave and can either be enabled or disabled by the user.
Flutterwave released a statement to announce the partnership which also said that the integration with PayPal is available in 50 African countries and worldwide.

The weak payment and banking system in many countries in Africa have posed a challenge to SMEs and freelancers. But this will help connect them with millions of PayPal account holders globally.
Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritius, Malawi, Mozambique & Senegal Paypal Users will be able to accept payments from PayPal users worldwide.
Olugbenga Agboola, Flutterwave’s CEO, said the partnership creates “a seamless digital payments system for Africa’s business communities that can now transact with international consumers.”
Less than a week ago, Flutterwave announced the close of a $170 million Series C round and its intentions to list in New York.

PayPal service had been partially functional in some parts of Africa, but the partnership with Flutterwave could change that.
