Confusion and fear of coronavirus are mounting in Nigeria with eight cases now confirmed in the country. Wednesday 18, the federal government orders for Batch A NYSC orientation camps to close down immediately.

This is not usually the case but is part of a precautionary measure to control the spread of COVID-19. Youth corpers would normally complete three weeks in the orientation camp before proceeding to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA).

According to Sunday Dare, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development corp members will now receive payment and proceed to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) early.

The NYSC Batch A members went into camp on March 4 for a three weeks orientation. They were supposed to conclude on March 29.

Nigeria has tried to get ahead of COVID-19 situation and introduced airport screening early. On February 27, the country recorded its first case of coronavirus, an Italian who was visiting the country. They immediately took measure to avoid the spread. However, on March 18, five more people tested positive for coronavirus. Reports show that they are people travelling into the country from the UK and America.
