Nigeria’s controversial minister Isa Pantami receives award

Nigeria’s Minister of Communication, Isa Pantami has received the award of the Most Outstanding Minister of the Year from People and Power Magazine.

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy was conferred with the award on May 6 2021 despite threads of controversy lingering around the minister.

The accolade according to the magazine is in recognition of the laudable policies overseen by the Ministry under Pantami’s supervision.

Some of those include the revolutionary NIN–SIM Data linkage, the National Digital Economy Policy & Strategy for a digital Nigeria.

The minister became controversial in Nigeria in recent times after an article that claims he has connections with terrorist groups.

More so, recordings of his support for, Taliban, Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Ladin in 2000s resurfaced online.

According to Pantmi in one his preachings, “This jihad is an obligation for every single believer, especially in Nigeria.”

“Oh God, give victory to the Taliban and to al-Qaeda”.

Nigerian’s have called for the resignation of Pantami for openly declaring his support for the world-renowned terrorists.

The federal government responded saying the the minister was young when he made those comments.
