The 80s and 90s was a great time for many youths in Nigeria today especially those who were in high school at the time. They spent their days listening to legends like Majek Fashek who has just passed away.

One of Nigeria’s favourite singer and the voice behind the “Prisoner of Conscience”, at the time of his death was only 57.

Majek Fashek achieved a lot so early and he was a bustling young man full of life in the 80s.

“Prisoner of Conscience” which had the song “Rainmaker” will remain one of his best albums and he made that when he’s 25. Majek Fashek was a brilliant singer, a legendary performer.

In the early 2000s, Majek Fashek stepped back from the music scene an early and surprising retreat. Many had been thinking that he left due to illness or that he had retired.

In 2015, Majek Fashek resurfaced as a sick emaciated person confirming the suspicion of wailing health, not as the singer he used to be.

Looking back at this photo now, his performance at the David Letterman show is the image of a really strong and amazing young man.
