Giant e-commerce conglomerate Konga has filed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU signed on behalf of the federal government by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) for easy access to food items from Nigeria.

Subject to the alliance, Konga will set up an exclusive diaspora marketplace for buying and selling items by Nigerians in the diaspora.

They will be able to utilize Konga’s assets, broad knowledge and reliable directory at their disposal to set up their own stores within Konga.

It will also offer them a way to find reliable retailers in Nigeria to make purchases without any likelihood of fraud and other illegal activities.

“Put simply, Nigerians abroad can order foodstuff, medicines, and other products on Konga platforms and get them delivered to their families and friends without stories, no matter the location in Nigeria,” Co-CEO, Konga Group, Nick Imudia said.

These transactions will be possible with a KongaPay wallet.

The opportunity that the MoU brings with it is also beneficial to the country as diaspora returns will further promote foreign exchange earnings.

Officials who were present at the MoU signing ceremony include those from NIDCOM; Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Leo Stan Ekeh, from Zinox Group, Nick Imudia from Konga Group, Isa Aliyushat from KongaPay.

Konga was also recently in a deal with the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development to empower millions of youths in Nigeria through a job and wealth creation scheme it calls Konga Jobs (KJ).

The initiative is open to different categories of Nigerians – employed, under-employed and unemployed.
