MTN Nigeria is now making eSIM service available to its customers as the range of capable devices become more available. These devices include Galaxy watches and Samsung S20 series, Apple watches and iPhone 11 range of phones as well as Google high-end Pixel phones.
eSIM is an embedment which can not be removed like physical SIM cards. However, they function just the same way as the physical ones and MTN is running a trial version now. It is also currently the only provider in Nigeria.
eSIM technology is beneficial to both MTN, customers, and manufacturers. It enables all MTN services and even more as users can associate more than one phone number with one device. Formerly this was possible with two sim card slots. eSIM stores data that can be easily retrieved from clouds if a phone goes bad.
All smart devices and hardware where mobile connectivity didn’t use to be possible can now operate with eSIM. Large scale businesses, oil and gas, and manufacturers can also benefit from e-sim.
MTN eSIM activation
The e-sim card can be activated on the MTN websites where customers can create an account profile.
Disadvantages of MTN eSIM
eSIM is not all advantages, there are some disadvantages too. Network providers will track its users and people who don’t like to be tracked, might not like eSIM. There is also a chance that an eSIM will be hacked from the cloud service.
