If people have testified to leaving their jobs for blogging, then it is enough proof that it’s a real source of income. They get to pay bills, take care of family and even work at their own pace just from writing blogs which is a good thing. But this doesn’t mean bloggers don’t do a tough job to make money as many in Nigeria would say.
While some bloggers in Nigeria understand how to make money from writing, others still struggle to have a normal income. These are some of the methods used by many bloggers to extra money to live lavishly.
Where do bloggers in Nigeria get money for expensive lifestyles?
Affiliate Links: Though with very little traffic as low as 10 000 page views per month, some boggers are able to sometimes get the attention of product brands. They get to promote the product on their website and get paid every time they refer a consumer to the product. There are a lot of companies that offer affiliate links and bloggers are also allowed to approach them for this.
Sponsored Post: As bloggers increase their visibility over the internet, product brands approach them to write posts on their behalf. This way the brand is able to get the attention of more people. Bloggers could make somewhere around $20 for a sponsored post, and sometimes up to $1000 depending on the company.
Advertisers: Though Adsense is the biggest one, not many Nigerian bloggers have been able to make a satisfying amount off of it. They combine Adsense with other advertising companies who request for them to display banner ads on their website to promote a product. However, it still all depends on the traffic. 1,000 monthly pageviews for a company that is offering a $.20/RPM could get bloggers $200 in a month, except many don’t get that much traffic.
Freelance Writing: This is the last resort for bloggers in Nigeria and it is difficult to find good freelance writing sites. However, every once in a while they get some extra payment from writing for other sites.
