The night of Tuesday, October 2020 turned bloody in Lagos when military men suddenly opened fire randomly killing and injuring End SARS protesters on the Lekki toll gate.
Following the incident, Lagos state is suspending all state activities for three days Babjide Sanwo-Olu announced Wednesday morning. The governor addressed the state saying it is out of a heavy heart and due to shared humanity.
Being one of the darkest days of the state, the governor clears that he has shown his affinity for the crusade against police brutality. He said that the President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police Mohammad Adamu had acceded to the protest demands.

Sadly without a formal leadership for End SARS protest, criminal orders took advantage of the situation, insecurity heightened in Lagos state.
End SARS Protest in Lagos
In an attempt to end the protest in Lagos and litigate the growing level of insecurity, Sanwo-Olu imposed a curfew. This effort failed as End SARS protester at the Lekki toll gate remained unpersuasive.

The governor further clarifies that as a sitting governor, he does not order the rules of engagement of the military. This is the same for other governors.
The Lagos state has now opened an investigation into the adopted rules of the engagement employed by the officers and men of the Nigerian army who were deployed to the toll gate on the night of the shooting according to Sanwo-Olu.
With that, the Lagos state government can take it up with the higher command of the Nigerian army.
The governor further pleads with the youth and citizens to give peace a chance there’s been too much destruction. In honour of the protest, the flag will go on half staff in Lagos today he said.

According to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, no fatalities were recorded from the Leki toll gate shooting as against the news. Having visited the hospitals that took in the patients, the governor said that they are in stable conditions.
