The Federal Government of Nigeria has said they are having an extensive discussion on offering relief fund to daily earners in the country. Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo and who oversees the Economic Sustainability Committee explained the idea to journalist Thursday.
His statement also made it clear that they have concerns regarding how the lockdown will affect the economy. More so, how “jobs can be protected and ways to create new jobs where possible”.
Daily earners which include salon workers, auto mechanics, plumbers and builders are not finding the lockdown easy. There have been a number of advocacy for the people who are unable to work during the lockdown. Though Professor Osinbajo noted that President Muhammadu Buhari is concerned about daily workers in the country, the advocacy also helped nudge them in that direction.
