Cape Town Table Mountain went up in flames Sunday morning and for the next 24 hours, its been more and more effort by the fire service to put it. This has sent Higgovale and Clifton residents running and several firemen hospitalised.
Homes and cars were destroyed in the flames which had caved two paths coming from below Tafelberg road and close by Signal Hill. The firefighters persist as the strong wind blowing the fire across the table mountain is slowing down according to eNCA. This is enabling them to deal with the remains of the fire with helicopters.
A number of firemen are currently at the hospital for sustaining injuries. The residents will have to wait for for the fire to clear before they can return home. Hopefully, they soon will according to Jermaine Carelse from the City of Cape Town.
Mountains around Cape Town including the Table Mountain have a history of going up in flames, the last time was in 2015.
