Ever heard anyone in Nigeria say they quit their jobs for blogging? – that can never happen and if it does, it never goes well. In fact “I quit my job for blogging” is an anthem in the US and UK and knowing what that means, it is unpleasant to hear for bloggers in Nigeria and most of Africa.

This is owing to the fact they think they are doing it right and therefore should make money. However, most people appear to be doing a lot of things wrong especially in choosing blog niche, doing SEO and in writing.

While putting time and resources into blogging defines the earnings, it also requires determination.

How much money does blogging generate?

People who consider blogging a main job in Nigeria could often get disappointed as a lot of them hardly earns $50 monthly. Making $500 – $2,000 per month as a blogger isn’t as difficult in the UK or US.

Glassdoor reports which were collected from bloggers in these countries show earning of over $32,800 yearly from a blogger. It sort of makes the blogging tip about spending time, money and putting in passion unreal. But that doesn’t mean blogging is not worth it in Nigeria.

Is blogging worth it in Nigeria?

Quitting blogging as against living without a job isn’t an option, and it doesn’t matter what it pays in the beginning, it could still be worth. It’s time to start thinking differently to make money blogging in Nigeria.

Since revenue depends on traffic consider adjusting and make more engaging and interactive posts.

Know what the audience wants and target maximizing page view earnings. Treat a blog like a real business – hire writers and never overlook the technicalities in owning a blog.

This could mean also hiring someone with a knowledge of programming languages.

Try to write sponsored posts as they often generate more money. Drop the poor blog niche that pays very little and go into a better niche. Be professional in writing and write only on informational topics.
