Top Senegalese-American rapper Akon is marking his first venture as a cryptocurrency leader. About a week after announcing Akoin which is to launch on the Stellar network, the Akon has entered into a partnership with BitMinutes.
In launching Akoin which is expected to happen in the next quarter of this year, the singer hopes to help upgrade the weak currencies in Africa. Akoin application is currently in decentralization and will provide holders with a chance at a more stable financial service.
Akon shares a vision with Bitminutes, in the creation of a financial arrangement especially as it relates to Africa. The partnership is a financial movement in securing inclusion for people who have no access to real financial services globally.
Akoin holders will use the application like the BMT (Bitminutes Token). It will allow holders to swap it for actual airtime. They can refill mobile phones, trade items with it. More of the benefits for Akoin holders will include the possibility to transfers to billions of accounts across Africa for free. It will also be possible to pay for utilities with Akoin.
Akoin will also power Akon City which the singer is building in Senegal.
