Africa’s Business Heroes 2020 top 10 with one Nigerian on the list of 10 finalists

Ten names and businesses have been released by the Jack Ma Foundation, Africa’s Business Heroes as top entrepreneurs of 2020 $1 million competition. Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) prize competition opened with over 22 000 applicants from 54 African countries earlier in the year.

As the competition progressed, the list further shrank to ten finalists from eight countries in Africa with 50 per cent of them being female. The grand finale stage is scheduled to hold in November.

Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) is a nonprofit program and a trailblazer in entrepreneurship projects in Africa. The Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative (ANPI) owned by Alibaba CEO Jack Ma, is the organiser of the competition.

The initiative wants to provide African entrepreneurs with the chance to demonstrate their talent and business ideas. The other countries represented on the top 10 finalist slate are:

The passion, excellence and diversity of the finalists is a reflection of the essence of the competition according to Jack Ma, the founder of the Foundation and chief of the Alibaba Group.

Zimbabwe – Ethel Mupambwa, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Moneymart

Uganda – Dr. Emma Naluyima Mugerwa, Founder, MST Junior School

Uganda – Joan Rukundo Nalubega, CEO & Founder, Uganics

Senegal – Mame Diarra Bousso Gueye, CEO & Founder, Diarrablu

The top 10 finalists represent over seven sectors – agriculture, technology, education, engineering, fashion, financial services and healthcare.
