Account Opening and BVN Registration to Begin for SPW

SPW BVN
The Special Public Works (SPW) programme approved by the Nigerian government in one of its post-COVID-19 initiatives is commencing account opening with Bank Verification Numbers, BVN.

The SPW is a number of beneficiaries on a government list to receive a payable amount in a span of three months. Participants will receive monthly allowances of N20,000 only and the programme was to kick off from November 1, 2020.

The programme which targets job implementation for 774,000 people in 774 LGAs in the country had been delayed for a while. It was initially going to take off October 1, however, funding and flooding delayed its commencement.

When BVN registration will begin for SPW

The account opening and BVN registration exercise will take place in six banks as mandated and Heritage Bank is the first to commence. In a statement directed to participants, Heritage Bank announced that its branches across 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria will engage SPW participants.

With a total of 129 LGAs allotted to Heritage Bank, it says it has set up a smooth arrangement plan for the exercise according to the Divisional Head, Corporate Communications, Fela Ibidapo.

The government has also provided a special feature form for capturing participants biodata during the exercise he said.

More so, Heritage Bank is promising to follow the list of beneficiaries it got from the federal government for account opening/BVN registration.
